Brutal Fruit Spritzer Saturday Brunch Delights Guests at Idlewild Country Estate
The Brutal Fruit Spritzer Saturday Brunch (BFSSB) series has done it again! Just a year on since its inception, the beautifully curated series has cemented its place as SA’s top new eventing experience following two hugely successful brunches in Cape Town and Johannesburg over the past few weeks.
The latest instalment of this series took place on Saturday, which also notably marked 30 years of Freedom in South Africa, at the majestic Idlewild Country Estate. In true BFSSB fashion, the brunch mesmerized guests with some spell-binding live performances, distinctive fashion, and, of course, a delightful culinary experience.
The theme of these two brunches was in line with the current brand campaign which encourages people to embrace the present and savor every moment, big or small. The theme speaks to guests affording themselves the opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and immerse themselves in a pure enjoyment.
In keeping with its well-earned reputation for lavish yet relatable razzle-dazzle, patrons showed up in their finest attire and danced til the sun went down to the sounds of the likes of Lelo Whatsgood, Courtnae Paul, DBN Gogo, DJ Nix, LocHive DJ and Small Babes. The irrepressible Manana delivered the cherry on top of a special day with a flawless headline set that featured a 3 Piece band and a whole lot of singing and dancing.
In attendance at the sold-out gathering were a host of Johannesburg’s trendsetters and socialites, along with a host of gorgeous ladies who snapped up the opportunity to indulge in one of the year’s most notable events on the social calendar.
Against the backdrop of Idlewild’s lush surroundings, attendees were treated to a feast for the senses and an unforgettable day of celebration and indulgence. The refreshing Spritzers perfectly complemented the sumptuous spread, offering a tantalizing taste of South African summer.
The series’ excellent host Pamela Mtanga, who did a stellar job at keeping the energy high, ensuring guests were entertained throughout the event, reflected on the unique experience of the first brunch of the 2024 iteration at Cape Town’s picturesque Cabo Beach Club and how well put-together the Johannesburg event was.
“I walked into Cabo Beach club two hours before the show started and I actually thought I was at the wrong place, it looked like someone was getting married! I had never seen Cabo beach looking like that! The floral arrangements, the seating and different photo booths against the backdrop of the atlantic seaboard, it was mesmerising. When people started pouring in, the room instantly filled up with ladies wearing the most stunning dresses and great energy. The Johannesburg show brought a similar energy and vibe and closed things off so beautifully. What a great job from everyone involved.”
Throughout the event, guests shared their experiences on social media, using the hashtags #SpritzerSaturday and #CelebratetheMoment to connect people who couldn’t attend the brunch and share their favorite moments. The online buzz generated from the event further amplified its reach and impact.
“What a memorable occasion! The Spritzer Saturday Brunch embodies the evolving brunch culture in South Africa, where weekends are meant for leisurely gatherings, good food, and great company. With its emphasis on celebrating the moment, the latest event perfectly encapsulated the spirit of brunching in the country. The fact that it fell on such a significant day in the nation’s history brought more meaning and significance to the occasion. As the sun sets on another amazing summer, Brutal Fruit Spritzer bids farewell to the season in an epic style. We’ll be back soon, though!”
