New Football Champions League for Gauteng Schools

Following the successful completion of the Wednesday schools football league, the Gauteng Provincial Government will, on Saturday 17 June, announce the first of its kind in School Sport in the Country, the formation of the Gauteng Football Champions League.

The groundbreaking announcement will be officiated at the Clapham High School in Pretoria, starting at 12:00 where SAFA will also be in attendance.

The new league is set to raise the intensity and rivalry of school football which will in turn benefit the development of the sport in Gauteng.

The Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture, and Recreation working with the Department of Education have been hard at work ensuring the rolling out of the Wednesday league programme which is now culminating into Champions League.

The winners of the competivive new league will not only have bragging rights but will for the first time for schools, receive prize money.
