From karting kid to King Price Xtreme champion: Christopher Tait joins the team

King Price Xtreme (KPX) has welcomed 17-year-old driver Christopher Tait to its growing stable of young talent. While the team is known for its superbike and mountain bike champions, Christopher brings something different to the line-up: he races on four wheels, not two.

KPX backs young athletes with real potential and gives them the platform to build long-term careers in motorsport. With his rise through the ranks being fast, focused, and hard-earned, Christopher is a clear example of this vision in action.

Christopher started racing go-karts at the age of seven. His early passion quickly turned into performance: “Cars and motorsport have always interested me,” he says. “But what still draws me today is the adrenalin.”

Years of karting laid the foundation for the smooth but aggressive driving style he’s known for today, and his transition to circuit racing proved that he could adapt and win. In 2024, his first year competing on the main circuit, he claimed the VW Challenge Class C championship, a statement result in a rookie season. He followed that up with an even bigger achievement in 2025 when he clinched the prestigious Volkswagen Rookie Cup Championship.

The Rookie Cup is designed to bridge the gap between karting and top tier circuit racing. It puts young drivers in identical cars and tests skill, consistency, and mental strength across a tight season. Christopher rose to the challenge, securing pole position in the final round and storming to victory in the opening race before sealing the title in race two.

This year sees him competing in the Volkswagen Polo Cup and VW Challenge Class A, where the margins are razor thin… The gap between first place and tenth is often less than a second.

“Tight competition excites me,” he says. “You have to stay composed and focused on every lap.” Composure is one of his strengths. Despite his age, he keeps a cool head in the car. His driving style is calculated and, when it’s time to make a move, he doesn’t hesitate.

Christopher believes that his technical understanding also sets him apart, saying that he’s always taken time to learn what his car can and can’t do, and that this knowledge helps him get the most out of it.

Joining King Price Xtreme at this stage is a key step in his journey. “It’s unbelievably valuable for my career,” he says. “It helps get my name out there. My career is growing fast, just like King Price, and their support gives me the structure and backing I need to compete at a higher level.”

His goals for the season are clear. He wants a top five finish in the Polo Cup and a win in the Volkswagen Challenge. Longer term, his sights are set on the IMSA Sportscar and World Endurance championships.

Christopher is still at the start of his career. But with championship titles already behind him and KPX  in his pit crew, his trajectory is clear. The adrenalin that drew him to racing at seven is now matched by discipline, technical skill, and ambition. And he’s only just getting started.
