Randpark Firethorn Course Hosts Prestigious Joburg Ladies Open
The City of Johannesburg is once again preparing to host the 12th Joburg Ladies Open at Randpark Golf Club, where the tournament will tee off from 16 to 19 April 2026.
The Joburg Ladies Open is a women’s professional golf tournament. Since 2015, the event has formed part of the Sunshine Ladies Tour, steadily growing in stature and reputation. A significant milestone was reached in 2022 when the tournament became co-sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour and the Sunshine Ladies Tour. It elevated the event’s global profile, attracting world-class golfers and firmly positioning Johannesburg on the international golfing calendar.
Since its inception at Royal Kensington Golf Club, the tournament has celebrated a strong local success, with six South African golfers lifting the trophy—an achievement that highlights the depth of homegrown talent and the event’s role in developing women’s golf in the country.
The tournament also provided a platform to showcase Soweto Country Club before later moving to Modderfontein Golf Club. Each venue has played a vital role in elevating the event, collectively shaping it into a true showcase of Johannesburg’s rich golfing heritage and world-class facilities.
With its move to Randpark Golf Club, the tournament is expected to reach even greater heights. Known for its pristine fairways and world-class facilities, the venue offers a fitting stage for elite competition and promises an unforgettable experience for players and spectators alike.
Executive Mayor Cllr Dada Morero emphasised the importance of collaboration in delivering a tournament of this magnitude.
“When government works hand-in-hand with the private sector, we unlock opportunities that drive economic growth, promote tourism and create platforms for excellence such as the Joburg Ladies Open,” said Morero. “Deals are often concluded on the golf course, and this tournament not only showcases sporting talent but also provides a unique environment where relationships are built, investments are explored and the city’s world-class golf facilities are placed firmly in the spotlight to millions of viewers worldwide,”
Morero called on key stakeholders, sponsors, and investors to rally behind the event as it continues its upward trajectory.
