Dust Rises as King Price Drives the Swartland Rally Across the Western Cape

The dust is set to rise in the Western Cape with King Price Insurance gets into the driver’s seat as the official sponsor of the 2026 Swartland Rally, taking place on 24 and 25 April 2026 across Malmesbury and Riebeeck Kasteel. It’s a partnership that feels like a natural fit: a high-energy event, a passionate rally community, and a brand that’s all about backing talent where it matters most.

For King Price Xtreme rally driver, former national champion, and Dakar competitor Schalk Burger, the Swartland Rally is exactly the kind of event that keeps the sport alive and moving forward.

“We’ve always believed that talent is everywhere but, unfortunately, opportunity isn’t,” he says. “Sponsorships like this help to close the gap. It gives events the backing they need, and it gives drivers a chance to compete at their best. That’s how the sport grows.”

The Swartland Rally is one of the most anticipated fixtures on the national rally calendar, attracting top local talent as well as increasing interest from across the border. With its mix of technical stages and scenic routes, it promises a proper test for competitors and a memorable experience for fans.

“From a driver’s perspective, you want rallies that challenge you,” Burger adds. “Difficult terrain, changing conditions, stages that keep you thinking. That’s what makes this one special. And when a sponsor like King Price Insurance takes the wheel, everyone’s adrenaline spikes.”

For King Price Insurance, the decision to sponsor the Swartland Rally goes beyond branding. It speaks to a bigger purpose: supporting the platforms, people, and communities that keep South African motorsport accessible and growing. Beyond the racing, events like these play a meaningful role in supporting local economies. The influx of teams, crews, and spectators brings valuable tourism into towns like Malmesbury and Riebeeck Kasteel, creating opportunities for local businesses and showcasing the region to more visitors.

Archie Rutherford, promoter of the National Rally Championship, believes that King Price Insurance’s sponsorship will tangibly benefit both the sport and the local towns hosting the Malmesbury Rally: “It’s not just about the stages. It’s also about the people who show up, the communities that get involved, and the energy that carries through the whole weekend. When you host a race in a region like the Swartland, you’re not only competing… You’re doing something meaningful.”

While the Swartland Rally puts King Price Insurance in the lead this April, it’s just one helmet they wear. Their sponsorship of rallying, superbike racing, and other high-performance disciplines on two- and four-wheels keeps their focus on the finish line: showing up for athletes, investing in potential, and helping South African motorsport thrive.
